If you can not look after animals, please do not have them! The International League for the Protection of Horses \nCharity no. 206658 \nHead Office: Anne Colvin House, Snetterton Norfolk, \nNR16 2LR Tel: 01953 498682 \n\nUK Welfare Hotline 08000 480180 \nILPH (International League for the Protection of Horses) \nPlease Visit:\n\nA horse trader, named locally as Jamie Gray, is being questioned about alleged neglect of animals at a field heowns in Hyde Heath, near Amersham, Buckinghamshire. The RSPCA, Thames Valley Police, the International League for the Protection of Horses and Redwings Horse Sanctuary were involved in the rescue. \n\nThe operation began on Friday when a villager spotted a dead animal in the field\nA total of 31 animals were found dead at the site and three more weredestroyed as they were too ill to be moved or rehabilitated.\n\nThe RSPCA said14 animals - 10 young colts and geldings, one blind dun mare and three donkeys - were removed over the weekend and taken to the Home of Rest for Horses in Speen, Berkshire. 17 more animals have since arrived at the sanctuary.\n\nA spokesman for the Horse Trust said the worst affected animals were in a \"terrible state\" when they arrived.\n\nThe horses are suffering with overgrown feet but are too scared to be treated at the moment. Mr Gray, who has a house in the village, has had animals at the site for a number of years.Locals say he transports some of them to the continent to be sold for meat.\nOne neighbour said, \"There have been a number of night movements when we have heard animals being taken away in horse boxes. \"We complained about the noise to the owner and then the movements stopped. \"We are very shocked bywhat has happened. \n\nThere is a huge police presence down here and officers and RSPCA people have been coming and going for the last few days. \n\"This is a very quiet village and it has been so strange seeing aerial shots of our house.\n\nThe RSPCA is likely to push for the owner of the horses to be prosecuted, a spokeswoman for the charity said. \n\nThames Valley Police said a 44-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and criminal damage.
